This random team generator turns any list of names into fair, random groups in a single step. Paste your people into the box, choose how many teams you need, and the split happens instantly — there is no wheel to spin and nothing to install. As a random group generator it keeps the teams as even as it can: names are shuffled and dealt out one at a time, so seven people across three teams come out as 3, 2 and 2 rather than lumping everyone together. If a split feels unlucky, press Reshuffle and it deals a brand-new random arrangement from the same list. How does the random team generator work?
Type or paste one name per line, choose how many teams you want, and the generator shuffles the list and deals each name into a team. The split updates instantly as you edit, and every name has an equal chance of landing on any team.
Are the teams balanced in size?
Yes. Names are dealt out one at a time across the teams, so the groups differ by at most one person. Splitting seven names into three teams gives sizes of 3, 2 and 2 rather than an uneven pile. If you ask for more teams than names, you simply get one name per team.
Can I change the teams after they are generated?
Yes. Press Reshuffle for a completely new random arrangement, or move people by hand — drag a name from one team to another, or tap a name and then tap the target team on a touch screen. Manual moves stay put until you reshuffle or edit the list.
How do I share or save the teams?
Press Copy result and the full line-up is copied to your clipboard as plain text — Team 1, Team 2, and so on with each team’s members listed. Paste it into a group chat, an email, or a document to share the groups with everyone.
